I heard something pretty funny today. To quote someone I was talking to:

"The problem with communism is that the government is 100% in control..."

Stop.

There is one giant, enormous gaping hole in this logic.

In communism, there is no government.

Yeah, that's right.

What most people call communism today is actually Stalinist socialism, which is by nature totalitarian. After the bolshevik revolution in Russia in 1917, Leninism came into effect, which was true Marxist Socialism adapted for the politically and socially backwards conditions of russia. Russia actually began making economic gains after the revolution, until Stalin took power. Stalin slaughtered millions of his own people, and replaced the still fledgling democratic system with immovable bureaucracy. Such is Stalinism. Not communism.

Just clearing that up.
